Hey there, I’m Sefora. And if you’re new here—welcome to my corner of the universe.
This is the Resource Yourself Podcast, a space where I’m here to ground you in the goodness of life so you can create everything you’re dreaming of—whether that’s love, meaningful relationships, healing the planet, or supporting your family.
Today feels like the perfect moment to begin Season Two by introducing myself more fully and sharing what this work is really about.
My Journey Into Attachment Healing
I’m a clinically trained psychotherapist with over 15,000 hours studying couples and individuals through the lens of attachment. I’m also an attachment coach and an attachment-based EMDR therapist.
But more importantly—this work is deeply personal.
I spent over three decades in anxious-avoidant relationship dynamics. I tried everything to heal:
- Therapy
- Spiritual workshops
- Transformational coaching
- Retreats
- Even plant medicine and ayahuasca ceremonies
If it existed, I probably tried it.
And while many of those experiences helped, the real breakthroughs came later—when I did advanced attachment training as a couples counselor and began applying that work to myself.
That’s when things truly started to shift.
Love, Loss, and Building a Life
I met my partner at 37.
Shortly after, I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. What followed was a five-year fertility journey that tested everything we had.
And then—we welcomed our son.
A couple of years later, we realized something important: we needed more support. Not just individually, but as a family.
So we made a big change.
We moved across the country to an eco-village, where we now live on 170 acres of land, surrounded by a community of about 200 people—right across the path from our best friends.
And this is where I’m speaking to you from today.
What Attachment Healing Really Is
Here’s the truth I want you to understand:
Attachment healing is not just about relationships.
At its core, it’s about this:
Trusting that you get to have your needs met—and that you are supported in life.
When I distilled everything I had learned—cutting through what didn’t work and focusing on what actually created change—I realized something profound:
This work is about forming a secure relationship with life itself.
You Are in Partnership With Life
When you begin to heal your attachment patterns, something deeper opens up:
- You stop feeling alone
- You stop believing you have to do everything yourself
- You begin to feel guided, supported, and assisted
You start to experience life as something you are in partnership with.
Some people call that God.
Some call it the Universe, Creator, or Source.
Some feel it as ancestors or collective wisdom.
Lately, I just call it life.
And life is with you.
Two Realities Are Always Available
At any moment, you have access to two experiences:
- Struggle, effort, disconnection
- Support, ease, and guidance
Both are real. Both exist.
But what I’ve chosen—and what I help others access—is the experience of:
- Feeling supported
- Feeling held
- Feeling like life is on your side
This isn’t denial of pain or difficulty. It’s a shift in how you relate to life itself.
The Root of Attachment Wounds
When you have attachment wounds, they often show up as beliefs like:
- “My needs won’t be met.”
- “There isn’t enough love.”
- “I have to do this alone.”
And those beliefs don’t just affect your relationships—they shape your entire experience of life.
You may replay the same pattern in:
- Romantic relationships
- Friendships
- Career
- Even your connection to purpose or spirituality
But healing happens when you reconnect with the part of you that was never actually disconnected.
You Are Already Supported
Take a moment to really see this:
- Your breath happens without effort
- Your body circulates blood without you managing it
- Water flows to you through systems you didn’t build
- Technology connects you to this very message
Thousands—millions—of people support your life every day.
And yet… you might not feel supported.
That’s where the work comes in.
The Practice of Reconnection
I’ll be honest—I often wake up grumpy.
But my daily practice is simple:
Reconnect with how life is already supporting me.
Gratitude is one way into this.
But gratitude isn’t the end goal—it’s the doorway.
What you’re really accessing is:
- The experience of support
- The awareness of what’s working
- The feeling of being helped
And when you tap into that…
Everything changes.
When You Feel Supported, Life Flows
From that place:
- Hard things become easier
- You become more productive
- You access creativity and clarity
- You move in alignment with life instead of against it
Every major milestone in my life—love, motherhood, community, career—came from this shift.
Nothing About You Is “Too Much”
Let me remind you of something important:
- You are not too complicated
- Your needs are not too big
- You are not too needy or too broken
And I say this with love:
You’re not that original.
Not in a diminishing way—but in a liberating one.
Because it means:
There is a solution for what you’re going through.
There is support.
There is a path.
There is a way forward.
This Is What I’m Here For
