Day Three of Yuletide Renewal
There are times when life doesn’t feel dramatic or urgent… just quiet, heavy, and a little uncertain.
This season has a way of doing that.
The days are shorter.
The pace slows.
Old feelings can surface when there’s more space to feel.
In today’s Yuletide Renewal practice, I want to invite you into a simple imagining… one that helps your nervous system rest and remember that you are not alone inside the quiet.
You don’t need to do this perfectly.
You don’t need to concentrate hard.
You can simply read and let your body respond in its own way.
Begin by settling
Wherever you are right now, let your body arrive just a little more fully.
You don’t need to change anything.
Notice that you’re here.
If it feels comfortable, take a slow breath in through your nose…
pause gently at the top…
and then let the breath fall out of your mouth.
Let your shoulders soften.
Let your jaw unclench.
There’s nothing to accomplish in this moment.
Imagine floating
Now imagine that gravity loosens its grip on you.
Not drifting away…
just gently suspended.
As if you’re floating in warm water, fully supported, with nothing to hold up.
All around you is darkness…
but not an empty or lonely darkness.
Imagine it as deep and velvety.
Like the night sky before the stars appear.
Like the inside of a womb.
Like the quiet just before something new takes shape.
Notice how this darkness feels warm.
Spacious.
It doesn’t press on you.
It doesn’t ask anything of you.
It simply holds you.
Let yourself be held
As you float, see if you can sense how supported you are.
There’s no effort required here.
Nothing to manage.
Nothing to fix.
You are being held by life itself.
Notice your breath moving without you needing to control it.
Almost as if life is breathing you.
Air moves through you…
around you…
and beyond you.
The boundary between you and everything else softens.
You’re not separate from the darkness.
You’re not separate from the air.
You’re not outside of life looking in.
You are within it.
Remembering
In this space, something deeper begins to remember.
Not your story.
Not your to-do list.
Not your worries.
A quieter knowing.
That you belong here.
That you were never meant to do this alone.
That you are part of something vast, intelligent, and kind.
As if the darkness itself recognizes you and whispers, without words,
You are not abandoned.
You are not locked out.
You are already inside love.
Let yourself rest here for a few breaths.
Long enough for your nervous system to learn something new…
that stillness can be safe,
that darkness can be loving,
and that being held does not require effort.
Bringing it back with you
When you’re ready, gently begin to notice your breath again.
The weight of your body.
The space around you.
You don’t have to leave this feeling behind.
This sense of quiet belonging is something you can return to… anytime.
There’s no door to force open.
You’re already inside.
If this season feels tender, lonely, or uncertain, know that it makes sense.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
